METCLAFE & BEUKES ATTORNEYS

Giving Back to the Community

WINDHOEK, NAMIBIA – October 26, 2023 – Metcalfe Beukes Attorneys, a leading law firm dedicated to justice and community upliftment in Namibia, recently demonstrated its unwavering commitment to social responsibility through an impactful pro bono initiative in Katutura. The team provided crucial legal advice and assistance to residents, further solidifying the firm’s reputation as a compassionate and community-focused legal partner.

The initiative saw a dedicated team of Metcalfe Beukes attorneys and legal professionals set up a temporary legal aid station at the Katutura Community Hall. The aim was to offer free legal consultations and guidance on a range of issues, particularly focusing on those that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations in the area.

“At Metcalfe Beukes Attorneys, we believe that access to justice is a fundamental right, not a privilege,” said Ms. Ndeshi Metcalfe, Senior Partner at Metcalfe Beukes Attorneys, “Our pro bono work is a cornerstone of our firm’s values. It allows us to directly support individuals and families who may not otherwise have the means to obtain legal counsel, empowering them with the knowledge and resources they need to navigate complex legal challenges.”

Throughout the day, community members lined up to receive personalized legal advice on various matters, including family law (divorce, child maintenance), housing disputes, employment rights, consumer protection, and the drafting of basic wills and customary law issues. The attorneys spent time with each individual, listening to their concerns, explaining legal processes in an accessible manner, and offering practical next steps.
